In these post-holiday months, discount furniture shopping may be the only type many of us are able to do. Couple this time of year with a possible recession in the US and you have high demand for things like discount furniture. However, before you run out and pick up just any discount furniture, you should make sure that you have an understanding of how to get the most value for your dollar with this vast segment of furniture.
Find Quality Where You Can
Just because you are buying discount furniture does not mean you have to sacrefice ALL the quality. There are a number of factors that go into furniture being sold at a discount. Through careful research and examination of what you are looking to buy, you can still get decent quality even with discount furniture.
Just like with any other piece you would buy for your home, you should test out and get a feel for any discount furniture you are going to buy. Even if you choose to go the route of used furniture for your discount furniture purchase, I would advise that you either test out the furniture in person or at least make sure there is some recourse if you get a piece that is not going to work for you.
Sit on chairs, lie on sofas, and recline recliners. Make sure you do everything to the discount furniture on the showroom or at the sellers home that you will and would do to it in your home. This will do two things: one, you will know if everything works and two, you will see how it feels to your body. These are the things that prevent your discount furniture mission from turning into a discount furniture nightmare.
Look for Stores that Save Money Places Other than Quality
If the furniture is cheap, find out why. You can get discount furniture of high quality by looking for a store that saves their money in other places. Maybe they do NOT offer free delivery (and pass the savings along). Also, look for stores that carry large quantities of stock so that they are getting discount furniture purchases themselves. Many times, you can find discountinued furniture that is of high quality but at discount furniture prices.
So how do you find stores like that? Ask around; word of mouth is often the best way to find places like that. Additionally, you can call the BBB in your area or if you post here (which sends me an email) I can do some research and let you know what I can find in your market.
Discount furniture is likely in the future of many people. Don’t let it be a nightmare. Instead, find discount furniture that you can find value in and keep for years to come.
Hope this helps,
